Wedding Planning Made Simple: A caring guide for couples just starting their journey.

Planning your wedding is one of the most meaningful experiences you’ll ever have - but I understand how it can also feel overwhelming, confusing, or even a little intimidating at times. If this is the start to your journey, I want you to know that it’s okay to take a deep breath. You don’t have to do it all perfectly or even all at once.

As someone who’s been fortunate to guide many couples through the wedding planning process, I’ve seen firsthand how a few simple, thoughtful steps can transform what feels like chaos into a beautiful, manageable experience.

Here is some of my advice to help you begin planning your wedding with clarity, confidence, and hopefully some peace of mind.

Why starting early matters

The earlier you start planning, you gift yourself the luxury of time. This is ultimately your most precious resource. It gives you time to explore, to dream, to adjust, and to thoughtfully make a decision. The more time means less stress, more choices, and a higher chance that you’ll create a day that feels truly like you and your partner. It helps prevent that last-minute scramble.

Set your wedding budget with intention

Your budget is more than just a total; it is a reflection of your values and priorities. Whether you’re working with a modest budget or something more inflated, take the time to be honest and intentional about where you want to focus. This helps lay out a practical roadmap for you to follow.

Choose your date and venue mindfully

The venue is the heart of your celebration, so finding the right place sets the tone for everything else. Whether it’s a charming local venue, a lush outdoor space, or a backyard gathering, your venue should feel right for your story. Securing your date early and having a few dates in mind gives you the flexibility to explore more options for other vendors.

Find vendors who understand your vision

Your vendor team will be your partners throughout this entire journey. Look for people who not only are talented but also listen and align with the style and values you want to highlight. Asking questions and advocating for yourself are important for building a trusted team. Ask about packages or customized options! Your dream day should feel attainable through your vendor team.

Create a Wedding Day Timeline that makes sense

Focusing on what matters most and giving yourself time to savor each moment is a gift to you, your spouse, and your guests. Many planners, coordinators, and venues will have timeline templates to take inspiration from. However, a wedding timeline can be whatever you want. No first course? Sure! First dance before cocktail hour? Why not.

Your wedding should be a reflection of you and your partner and the love, commitment, and journey you will be on. Planning is a part of that story. It’s perfectly normal to feel uncertain or overwhelmed, but it’s equally important to be gentle with yourself through it all.

Lean on those who support you, ask for help when you need it, and remember: this day is about celebrating you and your partner.
